Barasingha - Conservation Success Story
Success Story

The Barasingha Revival

A Conservation Legacy

Kanha is home to one of conservation's greatest success stories - the revival of the hard-ground Barasingha from near extinction. From just 66 individuals in 1970, the population now exceeds 800.

Van Srijan continues this legacy by supporting habitat corridors, community livelihoods, and scientific research that ensures Kanha's wildlife thrives for generations.

Meet Jeeshant

Born in Balaghat, on the edge of Kanha, Jeeshant spent his teenage learning the language of the forest from tribal elders and forest guards. After years of professional wildlife work, he founded Van Srijan to share his deep love for these forests with responsible travelers.

“The forest taught me patience, observation, and respect. Every safari is an opportunity to create advocates for conservation.”
